A few years ago on a whim, I entered a photo into the CA State Fair Fine Art Competition. I had no idea the level of the artists who entered, or what to expect. I didn’t put much thought into what I submitted, and in return, my photograph wasn’t accepted. I was disappointed, but decided I would research a bit, and use this as a learning experience. I went to the State Fair that year, and looked at the photographs that were accepted in. I was blown away. The photographs were spectacular. True art.
I didn’t try again until this year. I entered a print that I have received a lot of positive feedback about. It is one of my favorite images. I entered another print in the Black and White Photography category, but I should have kept it color and entered it into the color photography category instead.
I wasn’t sure if either would be accepted… but, I received this email:
Dear Artist:
Congratulations! Artwork(s) you submitted to California Fine Art 2010 was selected to be exhibited by one of the jurors.
I was SO excited. I checked the list to see which of my entries was excepted. ~ Grow ~
2 weeks ago I had to deliver my print for the confirmation and award judging. I was thrilled to learn my print won an “Award of Merit” for my image.
So, after all this talk…
Let’s have a
